Topeka poetry night discovery!

My introduction to A NET FULL OF HOPE was a poetry reading, but author Billings did not read from the pages of her book. Instead, looking directly at her audience, she breathed life into the poems that seem to spring from the depths of her soul. Her communication was compelling, but too short, as she could only present for her allotted time. So, I bought the book and read the many sections: writing, grief, love, nature, pain, justice – some short (just three lines) some humorous (Sabbath) and some graceful essays (Unfailing). I hope many readers will purchase Annette’s beautiful book and, in her words, “open your heart . . . cast a net full of hope.”

Annette words dance on the page. Sometimes it is an upbeat tune that makes you want to laugh. Sometimes you are in a smoke filled jazz club where all you can do is sway back and forth to the rythem. There is the soulful ballad that will make you cry. Be sure to check out "Laundry", "Belongings" and "Call When You Get Home'. Billings has a rare talent that is coming into its own in her first publication. I hope there will be more.

A Net Full of Hope # A Net Full of Blessings

I read this book all the way through in one setting and getting ready to read it again. I could not stop once I started reading. I literally felt every wave of emotion that a human can ever know. I could feel Annette's prayers for others thru her words and God's blessings easing my own pains of life. I can hear her voice as I read each word. Her handiwork reminds me (a poet myself) that true poetry has no rules, no bounds. Poetry is words that a person who has emotions and opinions of life and puts them on paper. In turn wanting to inspire others. Annette Hope Billings, you have deeply touched me and you inspire me. It's never too late to achieve a dream! God bless you!
