Dr Tobias Capwell joined Glasgow Museums as Curator of Arms and Armour, and produced numerous books and articles on aspects of the Glasgow collection. He then became Curator of Arms and Armour at the Wallace Collection in London, England.

Excellent photographs, I highly recommend tthis book.

The photographs are excellent. No hand drawn illustrations. The book is in two parts. The first part is a historical description of the types of weapons and the second part is photographs of various individual types of knives. All in all an excellent book. I found a couple of what I believe are errors. I do not believe anyone heat blued a blade, it would destroy the heat treat of the blade, it would have been a chemical or electrical process. Also his inclusion of the “Taiwanese butterfly knife” not mentioning the documentation of the butterfly knife first designed in the 18th century in France and its association with the Philippine islands. I highly recommend the volume.
