About the Author
Armando Torre was born in Naples in 1930. After military service, he migrated to the United States in 1958. As a young man, he entered art exhibitions in Naples, and he met famous Titina De Filippo with his brother Eduardo, where the passion for poetry was born at that time. His teachers were De Chirico, Cyrus Tackle, Joseph Garigliani, Nicola Ascione, William Best, and many others until 1958. He worked as a department head in the main factory of artistic ceramics of Capodimonte in New York. Armando is a painter, sculptor, and poet. As today he directs his art gallery and performs restoration of antiquities and paintings. His poems are memories life of Naples and of his childhood.

Armando's Poems

It is vey difficult for me to write a review on a work by Armando.
Having known Armando for many years and having admired his skills as a painter, his marine scenes are unique and will for sure one day be in Museums, his knowledge and ability as an art restorer are first class, but only lately did we become familiar with his poetry.
The Partenopean vernacular is a language that Italians refrain from defining as dialect , as it is the most musical and a splendid way to write poetry.
So here we have a collection that has not only artistic value but historical value for the period of Italy he describes.
His poems are simply beautiful, elegant his diction, and interesting the description of the particular periods in time.One cannot stop reading them without a big smile developing on their face.
Armando, I being a Northener , a polentone as you would define us, you managed with your poems to make us love the Southeners.
