I'm not generally an anthology enthusiast, but when I saw Dorianne Laux was guest editing, I went ahead and purchased a copy. It was a great decision, I cannot recommend this anthology enough. So many wonderful poems and several new poets whose careers I can't wait to watch!

enjoyable reading

I buy this annual poetry anthology each year. Some years, the poems are very powerful, some years more academic, some years more experimental. The book always gives a cross section of the best work being published by upcoming poets. This particular volume leans toward the academic and traditional. Each poet is cognizant of his craft and has something of value to impart. Plus, and perhaps most important, it is enjoyable reading.
