Short and Smutty….but in a good way.

There isn't a ton of set up or anything going into the story. Verity has been slighted by her ex-boyfriend very publicly on a website rate your shag. Embarrassed and completely self-conscious of all of the information her ex gave about being prudish and stiff Verity agrees to go to one of Cal’s parties that night.
Cal’s house parties are notorious for people having sex and Verity walks into watching a threesome almost immediately after coming to his home. I think this is about 4-5 pages in, like I said no time was wasted getting to the nitty-gritty and since this is only 74 pages long I guess it makes sense.
Cal is almost too good to be true. He is patient, understanding and has taken it as his personal mission to make sure Verity actually has an orgasm with another person in the room. As he helps her explore her own sexuality she becomes more comfortable and confident.
”Like I said, you think too much.”
“What else am I supposed to do?”
“He leans closer, tucks my hair behind my ear. “You’re supposed to walk into the restaurant with me. You’re supposed to order the most expensive thing on the menu, then order desert and refuse to share it. You’re supposed to torture me with boring conversation about the weather, the news, the latest book you read, knowing that I’m sat opposite you, thinking about your lovely tight ____ and how much I want to shove my ____ in it.”
Cal was charming and completely likable and I enjoyed the way he played with Verity. The only down side to this story was Verity herself. She sabotages herself all the time and even though I felt sorry for her I really had a little bit of a hard time liking her since she was so down on herself. But…that was the premise of the story so it fit this plot well
There are a few F/F/M scenes so if that isn't your thing be aware. They weren't too graphic but it happened. This is also an English story so the dialogue took a little getting used to. But if you want something short and smutty with a HEA of sorts this may be what you are looking for.

A Hot and Sexy Novella Read.

Short and Erotic-novella style read
Verity finds out her ex-boyfriend ousted her inadequacies on a website. He rated her so low, that he and his friends have been making fun of her to her face without her understanding that is what they have been doing. Verity found out and it hurt her tremendously. Cal, her boss happened to come into her office when she found out and invited her to one of his famous house parties –Verity accepted. Verity is this shy woman who doesn't watch porn, doesn't use sex toys, and who has never had an orgasm. Cal tries to change all that.
Cal is one sexy boss. He is smart, accomplished and has nursed a secret crush on Verity for a while but knowing she had a boyfriend, didn’t pursue. At the party, Verity comes across a sex scene that Cal watched with her. Then they started engaging in some crazy sexual chemistry and the story took a 180 turn. It really ended up being a sweet, yet really erotic, sexy , hot story. I liked Verity –her growth in the story was wonderful. I liked Cal- I think he grew too, from the guy who thew sex parties to at the end , a man who found what he was missing.

The Pleasure Principle

This novella is very hot and if you’re looking for a story based on the sexual discovery of the main character, then this one could be a good read. It barely took me two hours to finish it (in between tidying my place and talking on the phone for a little while). I think it’s a good alternative when you don’t have much time to read and you want something shamelessly sexual. ;)
So, you have a main character from which POV the story is told. She’s a woman in her twenties, dumped by an a**hole who went out of his way to ridicule her online. She’s very emotional, doesn’t believe in her abilities to satisfy men in bed so she agrees to go to a very special party at one of her boss’s place.
Seems pretty common, right? Well, I can’t exactly say that it’s a unique novella or story, but it’s still working.
Cal and Verity are an interesting pair. I think it’s fun that the author doesn’t show us that it only takes one try for the male character to make the female forget everything about her issues, her hangups and her fears. It made it more believable and I enjoyed Cal’s determination.
Now, don’t get me wrong, there isn’t that much depth in this novella. You have a fairly good characterization considering the short length of this story, you have a plot that is working but isn’t overly complex and you have a writing style that isn’t stilted. It flows and I think I was in the mood for something light and not so difficult.
But, I must confess that there are a few peaks in both main characters’ psyche that let me believe that if the author would have wanted, she could have written a full length novel with some depth. Maybe even a more twisted plot. I’m pretty sure that I would have been onboard. :)
The ending is a little rushed maybe, and the characters’ feelings become too important too suddenly. At least, I didn’t have the opportunity to witness the build up. I saw the lust, the sexual chemistry between them, even a semblance of care, but actual feelings…not really.
I don’t regret reading this novella and I repeat: if you want an erotica novella, maybe you should give this one a chance.
